About me

Black and white portrait of a middle-aged man with short hair, a beard, and a confident expression, wearing a black shirt.

I’ve been a graphic designer for over 30 years, working in London, Beijing and now from my studio in Bearsted, Kent.

These days I work independently with businesses, marketing teams and agencies that need experienced creative input without building a whole agency around the job. Branding is at the heart of what I do, but that often leads into websites, print, campaigns and the hundred other things a brand eventually needs.

Most of my clients are elsewhere in the UK, so location isn’t much of an issue. If you happen to be in Kent, even better. We can actually have the coffee rather than talk about having one.

My approach

First, I need to understand what makes you, your business or your brand tick. From there, I can create work that feels right for you rather than simply looking good.

Good design needs a reason behind it. So I combine creative thinking with brand strategy to make sure the work communicates clearly, connects with the right people and does the job it needs to do.

I’m fairly obsessive about the details too. Type, spacing, colour, consistency, the bits most people probably won’t notice unless they’re wrong.

So you get thoughtful, well-crafted design that looks like you, sounds like you and supports where you want your brand to go.

Process

I use a simple four-stage process for branding and graphic design projects. It keeps things clear, gives us something to work towards and makes sure the thinking comes before the making.
